Mid-century Dorset-Rex Fifth Avenue box handbag, dating to the late 1950s. Constructed with a woven plastic body and a structured tortoiseshell-tone lid, finished with a clear lucite handle and metal clasp closure.
The form is compact and architectural, holding its shape cleanly whether carried or at rest. The woven surface provides subtle variation in tone, contrasted by the smooth, translucent arc of the handle.
Interior is lined in a soft peach-toned fabric with a small pocket and original Dorset-Rex Fifth Avenue label. Underside is marked with U.S. Patent No. 2062361.
