A striking late 1960s to early 1970s evening gown in vivid tomato red with dramatic asymmetrical beaded overlay detailing. Designed by Jack Bryan for Dupuis, the dress features a long fluid silhouette with a pointed draped front panel finished in dangling faceted bead fringe that catches the light beautifully in motion. The neckline is softly scooped with a delicate front tie, giving the piece a relaxed glamour that feels equally suited to cocktail parties, lounge interiors, and late-night entertaining.
The fabric drapes easily through the body while the layered beaded panel adds movement and texture without overwhelming the silhouette. A wonderfully cinematic piece with strong hostess gown energy.
Curator’s Note
This is one of those dresses that immediately changes personality once it’s on display. The bright red color, fluid shape, and swinging beadwork feel very “after dark” in the best way — glamorous without trying too hard. The asymmetrical overlay is especially strong and gives the gown a very late-60s/early-70s feel that reads far more expensive than typical formalwear from the period.
