A fabulous 1960s cocktail dress absolutely covered in pink sequins that come alive under the light. Look closely and the pink suddenly flashes gold, lime, aqua and lavender—the kind of iridescent sparkle that photographs beautifully but is even better in motion.

The silhouette keeps all that shimmer beautifully balanced: a fitted sleeveless bodice, softly scooped neckline, nipped waist and an easy knee-length skirt. Turn around and there’s a low V-back for one last little bit of drama.

Inside, she’s fully lined in coordinating pink and finished with a metal back zipper, just as we like to see on a genuine mid-century party dress.

No label was found, which only adds to the mystery.

Curator’s Note

This is pure vintage joy.

The magic is in those sequins. From across the room she reads bubblegum pink; step closer and suddenly there are tiny flashes of chartreuse, gold, blue and violet dancing across the surface.

It’s playful without becoming costume-y, glamorous without taking itself terribly seriously, and exactly the sort of vintage piece that makes getting dressed feel like an occasion.

Simone put it on. The salon immediately became a cocktail party.

Go full 1960s with a little metallic evening bag, rhinestone earrings and silver or pale-gold heels.

Or forget the rules entirely: oversized earrings, a fabulous evening coat and enough confidence to wear pink sequins before 5 p.m.
