A rare mid-1960s palazzo jumpsuit by Alice Polynesian Fashions, crafted in richly textured cotton barkcloth and engineered to read as a full skirted dress when worn. The silhouette appears gown-like at rest, with wide palazzo legs revealed only in movement — a sophisticated illusion characteristic of forward-thinking resort design of the period.

This piece represents a moment in the mid-1960s when Hawaiian makers like Alice Polynesian Fashions were reinterpreting traditional textiles through modern, liberated silhouettes. Designed to disguise trousers beneath a dress-like exterior, the jumpsuit reflects a shift toward movement, comfort, and visual drama — qualities that continue to resonate in contemporary resort and couture design.
