A late 1960s to early 1970s black cocktail dress defined by a restrained silhouette and a sculptural rosette appliqué at the hem.

CURATOR’S NOTE
This piece sits within the “cocktail salon” tradition of the late 1960s to early 1970s, when department store evening wear emphasized refinement over excess.
Rather than relying on volume or ornament, dresses like this were designed with a single point of interest—here, the rosette hem—balanced against a clean, controlled silhouette.
The result is a garment that reads quietly at first glance, but reveals a more considered design on closer inspection.
