Woven panels arranged in a diamond grid, this vintage I. Magnin skirt draws directly from decorative-arts traditions rather than contemporary print design. The textile reads closer to upholstery or wall hanging than conventional dress fabric, finished with applied fringe more often associated with interior trim.
Produced during a period when department-store couture relied on union labor and specialized mills, the skirt reflects a mid-century interest in historic European textiles translated into modern dress. The weight, structure, and surface detail allow the fabric itself to define the silhouette.
